Hahaha, I'm alive. It's just that the election has been taking up all of my time lately. ;;; Also, the translation of Mother 3 just came outttt so yeahhh gonna waste a lot of time on that. I at least need to my 30-sec exercises which I haven't been doing lately. No excuses, get to it!

Hooo crap I spent wayyy too much time on this this little thing, but it is pretty cute. I adore nekomimi Near. <3 This little drawing came from a page in my sketch book. I thought Near had an interesting cute pose.
I _was not_ satisfied because I came into the previous drawing determined to use more saturated colors and lol fail. This is a sketch from the same page and I didn't bother to really refine the lineart because I wanted to practice my colorin' skills. Brighter colors and color unity is my goal~
Also, I'd reallllly need to get to drawing two characters interacting and practice drawing Mello, Gevanni and other chars because that'd be really fun.

Uh so yeah, I found a whole load of tutorials! I'm very happy with them and they're now neatly organized on my comp-comp. x3 Problem is I have a short attention span so I close one PDF and open another. There's one that's _just_ on hands and I can't help but want to scroll through the whole thing and just ogle them. Ohhh damn it Near. He's the reason why hands have become so alluring to me *_*

Hell yeah I got another Near plush though I suspect that this one could be a bootleg as well but it's so cuuute so it doesn't matter. ;-; This whole month I've been aching for my favorite doujin to be translated (I was promised) and the wait is so painful. I must be patient, patient. ;-;
I'm gonna be sadand bored as hell when the election is over. For the last few days, it's pretty much all that is occupying my spare time. Laissez's Fair (A mixture between fucked up and awesome) is my official favorite place to lurk. Ah, and I especially enjoyed watching the candidates make jokes at that dinner. McCain was pretty funny but he has such a hard time hiding the butthurt and Obama was... I think I may have a tiny crush on him. :3
And, sadly enough, I haven't been getting my draw on lately. I'm just sooo lazy and I don't have any good ideas. ;____;

Today I had a lovely dream about snow. My sister and I were going to some hotel(?) at night and there was snow everywhere, but I wasn't really aware of it until we got to the hotel. It was very beautiful.
Also, I went to an honors ceremony and there was refreshments! They were these little truffle-sized cheesecake bits that were so cute and I ate like 4 of them. I couldn't help it. ;_; I especially like the strawberry cheesecake. Cheesecake is about the only cake I really like to be honest.
I need to learn how to color with higher-saturated colors. @_@

Today there was an event at school where you got to mark up the sidewalk with chalk. And, since my priorities are well-sorted, I chose to do that instead of studying for my test. Sigh ;;;;
Hopefully I'll get like a C. I know it wasn't horrible but, I coulda done better, you know?
Mm, and I spent all last night making a "business card" for Japanese class. I cut up this neon pink color from a magazine into little squares and wrote the katakana on each little piece with white-out. I put the pieces on an old B&W photo of a street I made and glued a neatly cut out piece of bristol board on the back (with rounded corners) and wrote my name again and contact info and occupation (graphic designer) in black fineliner. Finally I took some pencil lead and darkened up the bristol paper, giving it a dirty look.
I got the best card in class. Yaay and I got pretty stickers out of it.
K-sensei also showed us pictures of her visit to her sister in Hokkaido. It was so beautiful and colorful (deliciously cool blue and intense bright orange temples). She also took pictures of a lot of Japanese dishes and I crave them now which is weird because I do not like fish or mayo. *picky*
I love Sutenia so freaking much. ;_;

I tried drawing this morning and most everything I do looks horrible. Maybe it's because my lack of sleep or maybe it's because I'm not patient enough. Either way, I am spent. @_@ Still, I'm gonna force myself to do that 30-minute exercise right after this.
Yesterday, I spent most of the day browsing Pixiv (Inspiration!) and I also read tutorials about color, perspective and clothing. Maybe I'm cramming too much? I dunno. (;_;)

I found some tracing paper from an old class and I plan to use it to practice my inking and/or outlining skills since that's my BIGGEST weakness. Seriously. I have such a hard time translating a sketch into a nice clean inked outline. If often looks bulky and usually loses the personality of the sketch.
Oh, I dream of a day when I can have a nice, clean, line with varying widths and lengths. A lines that's able to help describe the three-dimensional aspects of a drawing. Clean, sweepings lines that lend professionalism and personality to my drawing. I have a dream!

Also, I have confession. I like Lucky Star. I watched the OVA and found myself loving it and I watched the first episode and oh god I should have been bored out of my mind, but I wasn't. Like Mushishi or Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou it had a pleasantly numb, soothing feeling to it.
And I'm very much anticipating the next season of South Park. The most recent season just wasn't very good overall. I hope that this isn't the case with the next season.
I'm re-reading Watchmen too. I think it's funny how Dr. Manhattan goes all, "A live body and a deady body contain the same number of particles... life and death are unquantifiable abstracts... blah blah." And then he starts showing concern when Laurie is upset. Ahaha, it's kinda cute.

Coffee & Cigarettes
For four straight days I made sure to try the 30-second drawing exercise at posemaniacs but I broke it today and I feel so awful about it. ;;;; But. I'll amend that soon. Supposedly doing these exercises often will help me become a better drawer. I did a lot of these exercises in my Drawing I and II classes with live models and I do remember a significant improvement in my drawing.
Sigh, I miss my drawing classes. ;________; I mean, it was a pain in the ass to handle the HUGE drawing pads like more than half my size, and supplies aren't cheap. Oh, and a bad drawing session would make me down for the rest of the day. Ohhh, but I miss it. Words aren't enough to describe it! It was so fun to draw with charcoal.
